Our specialties

Break the cycle. Let us help you write a new story about who you are.

At AIM Counseling, we believe you are the best person to consult on your healing journey. Though we are ready to help our clients through all their challenges in life, we specialize in addressing the following:

Woman in thought practicing mindfulness.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Understand, manage, and thrive with your ADHD. Whether you suspect you may have ADHD or have recently received a new diagnosis, we’ll support you through tool expansion, learning about ADHD in your life, and building a new path forward. Some helpful tools may be Mindfulness, resource building, CBT, and talk therapy.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Maybe you suspect you could be on the spectrum, or you’ve received a diagnosis. Though men are just as likely to have ASD, it is still considerably under-recognized in women; recent research shows that nearly 80% of autistic women are undiagnosed as of age 18. ASD can show up and affect your life in a number of ways, and we want to share tools to help you thrive. Some helpful tools may be talk therapy, CBT, grounding practices, and other customized care.

ADHD and ASD in Teens and Children Ages 6+

It can be painful to see your child struggling and feel powerless to help them. If they are having emotional outbursts, a sudden change in behavior, or have received a diagnosis of ADHD and/or ASD, we can help your entire family with education and emotional support and building a healthier dynamic.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)

Identify and modify the negative thought patterns and behaviors that are keeping you stuck. CBT helps clients develop healthier thinking habits and coping strategies by challenging and reframing distorted thoughts and beliefs. Get empowered with greater control over your emotions and actions, leading to improved mental well-being and functioning.

Person practicing yoga, embodying mindfulness and inner calm in a serene environment.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

How do we finally process and move past the trauma we carry? EMDR is an incredible, research-based tool that can help with the emotional distress from traumatic memories, and eventually reprocesses and integrates them until your overall mental health improves. Not only does this decrease PTSD/ CPTSD, but it can help you move forward from old patterns and thought loops.

Mindfulness

Staying present may seem like a simple enough concept, but most of us struggle with living in the past or future. Mindfulness is a practice that involves paying deliberate attention to the present moment with an attitude of non-judgmental awareness. Through mindfulness techniques such as meditation, mindful breathing, and body scanning, you can develop a deeper awareness of your thoughts and feelings, and reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Talk Therapy

When we have a safe space to express our deepest fears, experiences, and feelings, we have a chance to heal. Talk Therapy is about creating a non-judgmental, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together we’ll gain insights into your challenges, develop coping strategies, and work through difficult emotions. This therapeutic process can lead to improved mental health, better relationships, and enhanced overall well-being.

Trauma

We all carry trauma from throughout our lives. Left unresolved and unprocessed, traumatic experiences can lead to long-term negative effects, such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)/ complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD). Together, we will unpack your experiences, bring them to light, and begin the process of working through them. You are not in this alone. Some helpful tools may be EMDR, mindfulness, CBT, and talk therapy.
